Pedestrian Killed In Maryland Police-Involved Crash Identified

The pedestrian killed in a police-involved crash in Prince George’s County has been identified as the investigation into the deadly incident continues, officials announced.

According to the Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID), 23-year-old Aniyah Redd, of Temple Hills, was fatally struck in Oxon Hill on Saturday, February 1.

The officers involved have also been identified.

Prince George’s County Police Sergeant Timothy Shomper, an 11-year veteran, and Corporal David Gross, a 13-year veteran, were involved in the crash, authorities said.

A third officer from the Forest Heights Police Department, Officer Aaron Hazel, was also involved. He has been with the department for 10 months.

Investigators have not publicly disclosed further details about the fatal collision as they continue their probe.

The IID, which investigates all police-involved deaths in Maryland, is leading the case.
